Hi,

I really love the "rock & roll" technique, but I really needed some practice... So I grabbed a bunch of inkpads, a nice round stamp, and started "rolling"...

Now I only need to die cut the images, and almost an instant card creation is born ;)

New Memento ink colors

Today I was looking for memento markers, as I don't have any, and no dutch retailer is selling the complete set...
Then I got some new information, at least completely new to me!!

March 2012 there will be shipping 12 new ink colors (full size inkpad, dew drop inkpads and markers) from the Memento inks to all known retailers.

I really like their colors, and they go really nice with distress inks, Stampin' Up inks, and Hero Arts inks.

Are they good colors or what??

Poor Lotte

Lotte got back home yesterday, and our VET told us she needed to wear a cone for 10 days. So we got a little cat cone, and she wore it, bumping her cone to everything in de house, etc. but no real harm done. Philip (our 8 year old syberian) was hissing to her, because of that stupid cone, but still, it was ok.

This morning, still nothing weird, untill she started to wrestle with the cone, and from one moment to another, she jumps up, screaming, nails out... Her cone shifted a little because of the pressure from her "wrestling match"with it, and she got the cone stuck in her mouth... it was bleeding already. So I yelled to my husband to get some scissors, and I hold her, cut the bandaid that holds her cone, and "released" her. I held her as a baby for quite some time (usually she doesn't like that so much). And I asked my husband to call the VET, what to do now, but 1 thing was for sure, that cone was not coming on again!

15 minutes later, my husband went to a VET in the neighbourhood, to get us a "kitty bodysuit". It's way more comfy, and she has a lot of freedom in it.

This week, Lotte will be 6 months old, today she went to the VET to get neutered...
Tomorrow evening will be getting her back, and we're really curious how she will be like, different or just her active self... we'll see.

This picture is taken yesterday, right after her nap...

I will keep you posted if something new will happen...
Btw, cards are on their way to get posted, but I have troubles making good pictures at the moment.

Wow, It's been a while, since i've posted some new stuff, but well, it's very busy here, with that little devil (aka Lotte), and all the medical stuff we've been and going through.

This card is 1 of the many kinds of christmas cards i've made for my friends and family. BUT the only one i've been able to make a picture of. Why? because I simply forgot to make a pic of the other ones, and they are in the mail allready.

Philip meets baby Lotte

Philip meets Lotte for the first time... Our big guy doesn't know what to do, and he started hissing... (he never ever did that before)

He went to the livingroom, and that's it.

Lotte is so tiny, but smells pretty bad (the smell from the shelter she's from).

I take her out of her "bench" and clipped her nails (just as Philips nails are).

She has a kitten litterbox, but the firs thing she did after taking a run, is going into Phil's (clean) litterbox... she sniffed and sniffed, and crawled out. Just too funny! After that we made a little mistake... we have lots of cabinets in our kitchen... and she crawled underneath and behind one...OOPS

Next thing was taking her to a seperate room in her safe place (the travel bench), with water, food and her litterbox, so she can sleep and get used to the new situation without her brothers, sister and mom.

Only thing I hope, is that Phil will play daddy soon, and stops hissing asap...

Her name is Lotte. She is a 8 week old kitten, and she will be joining our family starting thursday.
So Philip (our 8 year old cat) will have a little baby girl to care for and teach, and have fun with, cuddle with etc.

I will "bore" you with lots of pictures of our little one soon...

I just played around with my "legs" rubber stamp and embossing powder, everything is heat embossed exept the ribbon. Even the circle in the middle is heat embossed. When I know a fitting text to put on it (ideas anyone?), i'll put it onto the circle, and if needed, i'll heat emboss that too.

Why I haven't blogged in a while...

I'm very sorry I've been "gone" for so long, but many medical things are going on here, and that's keeping me very busy at the moment. The waiting the hardest part, but well, if you wanna know what's going on, you have no choice what so ever.

Plus something is really wrong with my mother again (she had agressive hormonal breastcancer a couple years ago, and some things are not going so well now...
and we're afraid it's back and spread).

I will keep making art and doing my thing, and i'll post as soon as time lets me. And I will be back and try to fill this blog almost daily with my things...
(when the medical stuff gets more stable)

As soon as I have news...
I'll let you know.

Slice Elite, wat een pech...

Voor mijn verjaardag heb ik een Slice Elite gekregen, maar ondertussen is nummer 3 terug naar de winkel. Erg balen. Nummer 1 deed ineens niets meer (maakte wel geluid, en er bewogen onderdelen, maar hij sneed niet, en ook wilde hij niet meer "centeren"), nummer 2 kreeg na een korte tijd hetzelfde probleem. Contact gehad met Making Memories en Kars (het Nederlandse distributie centrum voor Making Memories) en de machine ging weer terug, en ik kreeg nummer 3. Deze deed het prima. Tot van de week...ineens deed hij niets meer... Na telefonisch contact te hebben gehad met Kars is me duidelijk geworden dat er een hele zending is geweest met mechanische problemen met oa printplaatje (1 van de 3 laat zomaar ineens los bijv.) enz. En als je zo'n machine hebt, vroeg of laat doet ie het dan ineens niet meer... Dus deze gister weer terug gestuurd naar de winkel waar ik hem heb gekocht... In de hoop dat ik snel weer een nieuwe heb, uit een andere zending... Ik baal er flink van. Het is toch een flink bedrag dat ervoor is uitgegeven, en dan 4x pakketkosten...

Maar ik hou moed... een soort van...

Fun with Varnish

Just a fun thing I do sometimes with varnish... Give it a try...

Supplies used: Cheap varnish, a piece of paper with watercolor paint, and a heatgun.

Just drip a bit of the varnish on the paper, how much you want, in the shape you want

While heating it >> stage 1

While heating it >> stage 2

After the first heating. I like to let it cool, and give it another heat blast, that way
you can change the shapes a bit if you want to

After the second heating. I like it this way (ready to cut out)...
But only a tiny bit of varnish is used here,
when you use some more, or a pattern of drips, you get a complete different result!

This is the way it looks from the side...
The paper is warped, but if you heat from the back
it will straighten a bit, and ofcourse you can just tape it flat.

Blending

Soms krijg ik de vraag "wat is nou "blending"?", en mijn antwoord is daarop simpelweg "het mengen van kleuren"...

Het maakt niet uit wat voor product je hiervoor gebruikt, het enige wat daarbij verschilt zijn de technieken die je kunt gebruiken voor het blenden.

De basis voor elk product is hetzelfde.

Hierboven zie je een voorbeeld met Pastel Potloden (Derwent).

Er worden verschillende namen gegeven aan de tools die je hier ziet, zo worden de hardere soorten (er zijn verschillende soorten) "Encaustic Scraping tools" genoemd, omdat ze gemakkelijk kunnen worden gebruikt om tijdens "encaustic" te modelleren, maar doordat ze harder zijn worden ze ook vaak gebruik om klei te modelleren. De zachtere soorten worden vaak "rubber penselen" of "Colour Shapers" genoemd. Door het materiaal makkelijk schoon te maken (babydoekje voldoet prima), erg slijtvast, dus gaat erg lang mee en ook erg makkelijk in gebruik. Zeer geschikt om structuur aan te brengen in verschillende soorten verf, om te "blenden" met wax/olie pastels of (zoals ik ze o.a. gebruik) voor gewoon pastel werk.

Ze zijn verkrijgbaar in verschillende vormen, voor verschillende resultaten. Erg leuk om mee te experimenteren (vind ik zelf).

Blogging and Storage

Vandaag wou ik het eens hebben over wat ik geplanned heb voor op m'n blog en over opbergen...

Als je zo'n klein kamertje heb als ik, is het lastig handige passende opberg mogelijkheden te vinden. Dus ik heb een tab gemaakt bovenaan mijn blog, genaamd "Storage and Stuff". Het zal regelmatig geupdate worden met handige hulpmiddelen zoals color charts, maar ook met de opberg dingen die ik gebruik of heb gemaakt, enz. Je zult alleen zelf regelmatig bij dat tab moeten kijken, want ook als je volger bent krijg je hier geen updates van, alleen updates van de hoofdpagina kun je zien in de bloglijst.

Ik ben erg druk met verschillende projecten die ik nog niet kan laten zien, maar ik zal zeer spoedig dingen laten zien, net als dat ik bezig ben met het voorbereiden van turorials en videos.

Dus eigenlijk wilde ik ook zeggen, hou ook de tabbladen van m'n blog in de gaten, want er kan wat interessants op staan of komen, wat je niet direct ziet als je op mijn blog komt...

Today, I wanted to chat a little about what i've got planned on the blog, and about storage.

When having a really tiny room like I have, it's hard to have handy storage solutions that fit. So I made a tab on top of my blog called "Storage and Stuff". It will be updated frequently with handy solutions, color charts for things I use, etc. You will have to check that tab frequently, as it doesn't show on the main page that there is a new post or something like that.

I am very busy with multiple projects that I can't show yet, but I will show things soon, just as i'm preparing some tutorials and videos.

And I also wanted to say, check my blog tabs on the top of the main page frequently, cuz there might be something interesting on there now and then, which you won't see on my main page...

Ik moest deze foto gewoon met jullie delen, Philip, onze 7 jaar oude baby, maar zo'n schatje, lief, speels, had ik al gezegt dat het een schatje is? LOL.
En hij heeft zulke mooie blauwe ogen... ons prinsje... nou prinsje... Het is een grote kat, absoluut niet dik, maar erg gespierd, groot en veel vacht!

De 4 cubbies zijn klaar. Het duurde even, ook een keer opnieuw begonnen, maar ben nu toch wel tevreden. Er moet nog 1 laagje blanke lak op, en dan zal ik nieuwe (betere) foto's plaatsen!

Note; Het multi-color cubby is voor mijn Pro-Markers.
Bij de cubbies gebruik ik wel ook een uitgebreide kleurenkaart voor de copics maar ook voor de pro-markers,
die beide te vinden zijn op het tabblad "storage and stuff".

My 4 cubbies are done. It took me a while, and I started over again once too, but now i'm pretty pleased with the result. Only 1 layer of varnish needed, and i'll post some (better) pics!

I've been art journaling for years, but I haven't had a clue about the fact that it had a name...I started when I was about 8 years old I guess, in every kind of way and with every kind of material I could get my hands on, and that never really changed.

How has Art Journaling impacted,
changed or enhanced your life?

While art journaling I can show (and tell) what's bothering me, without really talking about it. I can express myself and just "be me" in it, in an abstract way, it's very important to me, and it's a huge healing process for me, for years.

What are a few of your favorite Art Journaling materials to use?

But these bumps left their scars, and some of them make me struggle some of these bumps daily, over and over again. Next to my artsy things, I can express myself in music (singing), I love to read, write, and watching movies with my hubby. I used to train dogs, and that was a huge passion of mine. But I had to quit, because of an auto-immune disease that started when I was 11 years old, but progressed in the years. It's causing me so much pain that I had to quit many things, and that hurts inside...because the're so many things I LOVE to do...

And I still do things I love, art, for example. And even my pain is holding me back from many sports, I still do a workout, daily at home, with all kinds of fitness machines we have here. And yes, it hurts (it really does), but without training, it hurts just a little less... That difference doesn't make me quit this too!

I keep holding on to the things I can do! That makes life worth living!

Leaf or envelope??

Heb zojuist een nieuwe set ponsen binnen gekregen, samen met 2 T!M Holtz Alteration dies, en ik stond werkelijk verbijsterd van het resultaat van de ponsen. Ik heb alleen maar een envelop uit de papierbak genomen, geponst, de 2e pons gebruikt, en WOW. Mijn man zei ook al "lijkt net echt, waar een envelop al niet goed voor kan zijn". De bestelling komt hier vandaan.

I just got a new set paper punches in the mail, together with 2 of T!M Holtz Alteration dies, and I was really shocked (in a good way) of the outcome of the punch out. I just took out an envelope, from the recylcle bin, punched out, used the second punch, and WOW. Even my hubby said "it seems so real, good use for an envelope".

Daar was ik dan ineens weer, sinds lange tijd.
Door veel persoonlijke omstandigheden kon ik het niet opbrengen om te bloggen. Sorry.
Maar ik ben snel weer terug, in zoverre mijn lichaam dat toelaat.
Helaas heb ik ook sinds tijden weer enorm veel last van hoofdpijnen, bijna non-stop.
Doktoren weten nog niet wat het is, maar het wordt onderzocht,
want 6 weken achtereen is niet normaal meer,
en ook geen "gewone" migraine meer.

Spoedig zal ik jullie verder informeren en zullen jullie weer werkstukken van mij zien!

Because of a lot of personal things that are going on right now,
I couldn't bear to blog. I'm so sorry!
But i'll be back soon, insofar as my body allows me to...
Unfortunately i'm having bad headaches again, almost non-stop.
Doctors don't know what is wrong with me yet, but they examining the "case".
6 weeks non-stop isn't very standard, and it's no "regular" migraine anymore...

Wedding anniversary

Vandaag vieren we dat we 1 jaar getrouwd zijn, door de omstandigheden doen we er niet veel aan, maar we denken er natuurlijk wel aan, en staan er even bij stil.
Dit wilde ik jullie dan ook niet onthouden. Dus vandaar.

Vorig jaar, om 14.00u (ongeveer) zeiden wij "JA" tegen elkaar, "in voor- en tegenspoed, tot de dood ons scheid".
En dat is nog altijd zo...

Today we are celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary. Because of the circumstances, we can't celebrate as we want to, but offcourse we think about "our day" and we stand there a moment. Just wanted to share this with you, so...

Last year, around 14.00u we said "YES" to each other,

And that's not changed a bit...

Dit kaartje heb ik voor mn liefie gemaakt, omdat hij vandaag eindelijk uit het gips mocht... Over 2 weken begint de revalidatie, en mag hij langzaam zijn voet weer gaan belasten.
Pas tegen de zomer zal hij weer normaal kunnen lopen.

I made this card for my hubby, because he could finally "lose" his cast today... In about 2 weeks rehabilitation will start, and can he start "using" his foot again.

Vandaag kreeg ik ineens het nieuws van Astrid en van Mélanie dat ze een blogaward voor me hadden, wat lief he... Dank je wel lieverds!! Maar dat betekend wel dat ik 9 dingen eerlijk over mezelf moet vertellen en de award weer doorgeef aan 9 medebloggers...

Daar gaan we dan... "wist je dat ik":

1; nogsteeds druk ben met m'n kamertje op orde maken,

4; dan graag een fleecetrui aantrek,

Flowerpot pimped

Ik moest gewoon iets doen, want mijn handen jeukten al een tijdje, mijn kamertje is echt bijna af, maar nu staat alles aan 1 kant omdat er nog wat geboord moet worden, dus ik kon niets doen aan m'n bureau. Dus bedtafeltje er weer bij en aan de gang.
Wat vinden jullie ervan?

M'n liefie vond hem direct "gaaf" doen ie de kamer in kwam, net nadat ik klaar was met de pot, en had hem al meteen een plekje in de woonkamer gegeven, terwijl ik hem eigenlijk wilde gebruiken voor op m'n kamertje om m'n foam kwasten in te doen... LOL

I just had to do some crafty thing... I wanted to for a while, and my craftroom is really almost done (finally), but everything is on one side of the (allready tiny) room right now, because hubby has to do some drilling, so I couldn't do anything on or around my desk since the start of the "craftroom in progress" period...
So I got my bedtable again and I was"gettin' started" ;).
What do you think about it?

My hubby came in the room when I was finished, and he tought it was "looking cool" and wanted to put it in the living room immediately, thinking I wanted to place it in my craftroom to put my foambrushes in... LOL

Ik was vol verbazing toen ik van Angela een mailtje kreeg dat ik haar blogcandy had gewonnen en of ik mijn adres wilde doorgeven. Zo gezegd zo gedaan. En vandaag lag de stempel op de mat.

Toch maar een kaartje (a card anyway)

Ondanks dat ik op mijn kamer niks kan doen, heb ik toch maar een kaartje gemaakt (op bed met een tafeltje). Ik ben gek op rood en roze en dat kun je ook wel terugzien denk ik. De bloem is gesneden,
vellum achter de bloem verwerkt, en stickles voor wat glitter,
al zie je dat niet echt terug op de foto, net als de rhinestones op de kaart en het vlindertje.

I can't really do anything in my room, but i just had to make a card so i did it on my bed, with a bedtable. I just LOVE reds and pinks,
and i think you can see that in my card. I used vellum underneath
the cutted flower, put some stickles on the leaves for some bling and added some rhinestones, even though you can't really see it in the picture. The text is heat embossed just as the flower in the center (with some clear embossing for some shine).

Nou wilde ik jullie een kijkje geven van mijn storm-kamer... met andere woorden, mijn hobby kamer to-be, want het is nu 1 mega grote bende, maar alles moest nu op de kamer komen ivm dat we een grote kast in de woonkamer krijgen, en die komt straks...

Maar nou doet het feit dat mijn camera direct begon te piepen toen ik hem aanzette "batterij leeg", helaas pindakaas kan ik mijn 2e accu niet vinden, en de lader kan ik ook nu niet vinden (heb hem net nog in mn handen gehad...)...

Wanted to give you a peek into my wreckage-room, with other words, my craftroom to-be, because it's one huge mess, but i had to put everything in my little room because we're getting a large cabinet in the living room, and it will be delivered this evening...

But the facts is that my camera started beeping immediately when i wanted to take a picture of the mess, and it said "battery empty", and i can't find my 2nd battery, and the charger is missing also (i had it in my hands only 5 minutes ago...)...

New Goodies

Jeeee, toch nog wat leuks vandaag wat de postbode kwam brengen. Het papier is "scripts" en "lace", en helemaal geweldig vind ik, beide blokjes hebben dus allerlei kleuren en soorten scripts (teksten) en kantjes... Verder nog een paar kleuren ProMarkers die ik nog miste qua kleuren (die ik gebruik samen met de copics, wat prima gaat) En een paar extra mini misters waar ik mijn eigen kleurtjes glimmer mist in maak. En als laatste de Cosmic Shimmer Mists, helemaal leuke kleurtjes natuurlijk!

Yeahhh, the mailman finally brought me some nice things today. The paperstacks are "scripts" and "lace", and I love 'em! Both stacks have a variety of colours with a variety of scripts prints/lace prints... Further on i've got some more colours ProMarkers which I missed in my "stack" (and which I use together with my copic markers, and it works well). Some extra mini misters, to make my own colours glimmer mists in. And last but not least, the Cosmic Shimmer Mists, great colours!

Dit is de binnenkant van de deur... Ik ga de deur nog wel verven hoor, oranje is NIET mijn kleur! En ik ben heel blij met mijn "Kanga Pouch" voor mijn ponsen, lang niet alle ponsen zitten erin, maar de ponsen die lastig op te hangen zijn bijv. maar wel veel gebruikt worden...alle andere ponsen zitten in afsluitbare bakken of hangen aan de muur.

This is the inside of the door... I'll be painting the door soon, because orange is NOT my colour! And I love my "Kanga Pouch" for my paper-punches that can't be stored on the wall somehow, but I use often... all other punches are in storage bins or on the wall.

Mini Kaartje (Mini card)

Even een snel mini-kaartje voor een jarig neefje dat 10 wordt en gek is op het leger en wat ermee te maken heeft...

Just a quick mini card for a nephew's birthday, he's becoming 10 years old and just has a thing for the army...

Het hangertje is gemaakt met shrinky, door een stempel van Stampinback af te drukken, en de achterkant van de shrinky in te kleuren (heel licht) met aquarelpotlood. Toen in rechthoek geknipt, gaatje erin geponst en met de heat gun laten smelten en klaar. Het kleine kaartje zelf is gemaakt dmv een Sizzix stans en bewerkt met distress inkten.

I've made the pendant with shrinky, by imprinting a rubber stamp - by Stampinback - coloring the back of the stamped image with water colour pencils (very lightly), and made a hole with a hole punch in it. Than melting the shrinky with a heat gun, and your ready to go. The little card itself has been made by using a Sizzix die and using distress inks.

Enorm balen! (This blows big time!)

Ik wilde dit even kwijt hoor, zaterdag een pakketje gekregen met bestelde artikelen vanuit USA, daarin zaten welgeteld 2 ponsen en een 12" embossingfolder, terwijl de totaalwaarde van het pakket eigenlijk ruim 200 euro was, en bestond uit diverse ponsen, stanzen, stempelsets, magneetmatjes, speciale postzegels (voor verzamelaars van "The Simpsons") noem maar op.
Maar dat had dus allemaal in dezelfde doos moeten zitten.

Het was een Priority box, en de bonnen zaten er ook in van de producten, alleen het grootste deel van de producten niet.
Ik heb TNT gebeld en zelfs het doane onderdeel van TNT, en die zeggen "het enige wat je kunt doen, is de verzender een onderzoek laten starten", dus dat heb ik aan haar gevraagd, en we wachten nog op reactie, gezien het ook een vriendin van ons betreft.

Wie weet verder nog raad?? Ik kan wel janken!!

I just wanted to write about this thing that happened this week...

Last Saterday a package from the US arrived, 2 paper punches and 1 12"embossing folder was what it held, instead of many punches, stampsets, embossing folders, dies, etc. And the special postage stamps from "The Simpsons" for my hubby. (we can't get these in the Netherlands) Receipts where in the box also. But no sign of opening the box at Doane or postoffice what so ever.
So instead of the 4,1 kg (9,1lb) that's been sended (and was on the box also) arrived only 905 grams. The rest of the package is LOST... (worth over 200 euro's)
We've contacted the sender (a friend of ours), TNT (post office) etc. but notting...

I can only feel bad, sad and Cry...

Who knows what to do now?

Mini-update; TNT start een onderzoek, ik hoor met 24 uur meer informatie over het vervolg hiervan. De doos is met 4.1kg uit Amerika verzonden, en bij mij met 905 gram aangekomen... nogal dubieus, gezien het feit dat het gewicht ook op de doos staat aangegeven. We wachten hier - met zweet op plekken waar je het niet verwacht - af... Wordt Vervolgd

Ik heb deze Ribbon holder vrijdag binnen gekregen, maar vond het nogal saai, dus ik dacht, ach... beetje mee kleur mag wel...

This Ribbon holder arrived last friday, but I thought it was pretty boring, so I wanted to give it some more colour...

De stipjes zijn geen steentjes of pareltjes ofzo,

maar dat is pergamano verf.

Vandaag mijn eerste blog award gekregen van Elly...
Onwijs bedankt, heel lief van je!!

Nu moet ik dus 7 dingen over mezelf vertellen:

1: Ik ben getrouwd met een mede-adhd'er (mijn schatje),
2: Ik spaar mooie stempels (en gebruik ze uiteraard ook),
3: HEEL binnenkort heb ik mijn eigen hobby kamertje,
4: Mijn muzieksmaak is eclectisch,
5: Mijn favoriete materialen zijn stempels, inkten en diverse verfsoorten en daar knoei ik dan dus ook graag en veel mee!!
6: Dingen maken is mijn grote uitlaatklep,
7: Naast dingen maken kijk ik graag (en veel) films, zing ik graag, en ik ben iemand die gek is op knuffelen, gewoon zomaar.

Tjah, ik moet er ook maar aan geloven, een weblog. Ik wilde het in eerste instantie niet, want ik heb het al zo druk met vanalles regelen en doen. Maar ja, voor de internationale contacten is het wel leuk denk ik...
Hierbij wens ik elke bezoeker veel kijk plezier, en ik zal mijn best doen regelmatig een blog te schrijven met foto's enzovoorts.
